Roots and Horizons Blog: "This past month, Roots and Horizons was given a gracious donation by an alumni mentor. Past mentor Adam held a fundraiser for our program through his facility, the Folsom Karate Academy. For four hours a day for one week, Adam taught safety classes to local youth where students learned physical and emotional techniques to protect themselves against a stranger. Through his efforts he was able to not only teach children safety protocols, but also raise over $1600 dollars in the process- 100% of the funds went to Roots and Horizons. Adam has a preference that some of the funds go to providing sports equipment to program participants who can not afford it. Thus, should any of you mentors notice a need from your mentee for sports equipment, please contact us so we can help them out. We would like to publicly send our thanks to Adam for his dedication to the community and children. Roots and Horizons is very gratful for your support." "

Their only interested in collecting your money. Mr. Hamlin lives and beleives in martial arts and his love for what he does is demonstrated in the quality of his students."

I did my homework when we were looking for a school and we tried several programs. Mr Hamlin's program came out on top. It seems he is the only school owner in the area to take martial arts training seriously. Everwhere else it was difficult to even talk to the owner, prices were outragious, and it seemed the instructors were more interested in me signing a contract. Mr hamlin gave us a whole month without asking us to purchase or sign up for anything. He acted as if we already were part of the school. If you are looking for a school TALK TO MR HAMLIN FIRST! We wish we had. "

The mixture of various martial arts styles provides the children with an excellent foundation. In addition, there is no question in my mind that my son will have the skills necessary to protect himself in dangerous situations. The discipline taught ensures that he will only use his skills when absolutely necessary."

We tried a few schools, but every school seemed to be more interested in us signing a contract than adressing my son's problems. Mr. Hamlin steped up to the plate. He owns his school, runs his classes, and tries very hard to improve the lives of his students, and he only charges $89/month. I have made it my mission to promote this man and his school becuasue he is one of the few that is trying to make a difference."

My kids are learning not only to do moves but to grapple on the ground, stranger safety, and weapons. Mr. Hamlin has a gift for teaching is truely fun to watch him. He also started the Folsom Child Safety Network. Those safety letters that everyone gets in the kids wed folders. The only reason I did not give his school a 10 is because of how crouded it gets some days. Some days I can barley get in the door. "
