"My husband and I were looking forward to trying Mexquite since we first moved to Folsom a year ago; however, our experience there last night was less than stellar. We stopped by after work to get a marguerita and some appetizers, thinking that would be a nice way to check out the restaurant. When we sat down at the bar, the bartender did not acknowledge us with even so much as a "Hi." After a few minutes, he brought us chips and salsa and asked us what we wanted. We ordered our margueritas on the rocks, which came with too much ice, not enough tequilla, and a standard marguerita mix you can buy off any grocery store shelf. We then ordered the Pachanga Platter, which came with an assortment of tapas. The chicken/beef in the Volcansitos was overcooked, dry, and bland, and the mesa boats were so tough (not to mention oily) we had to cut them with our knives. The Chimichanguitas, though crunchy, had no heat or spice and not very much flavor. The beef Empanadilla was rich, but the meat was undetectable; we did not eat the shrimp Empanadilla, since it was obvious it had been left in the deep-fryer too long and was almost black. The chile con queso was barely cooked, and the cheese it was topped with was undiscernable (feta?) and cold. Needless to say, when I eat Mexican food I do expect a certain amount of spice and colorful flavors, and none of the tapas delivered. My husband and I both put our forks down at the same time and went back to eating the chips and salsa. To top it off, the whole time we were in the restaurant the bartender was speaking Spanish to a co-worker behind the bar. I found this to be quite rude, especially considering he couldn't be bothered to speak to his patrons! I will say that the chips and salsa were good, and the atmosphere, although unfriendly, was festive, and overall the service was pretty good. However, during these tough economic times--when dining out has become such a luxury--we feel even more strongly that we should receive if not good value for our money, at least good food for our money. Mexquite offered us neither. We will not be returning any time soon. "

Simply Awful....
"My husband and I went to this restaurant yesterday for lunch. We were really excited about Mexquite because of the vegetarian variety that they offered. We had to seat ourselves, (we were the only patrons in the place), we waited over 20 minutes to place our order, we did get our food fast, (It was awful and greasy), we had to ask our waiter 2x for salsa and chips, our waiter refilled our drinks once in 90 minutes, he also forgot about us a few times as he was on break ( eating at the table next to us)...I will not go back here....for all that we went through and left with a bill that was high for the crap food and even crappier service...we still tipped well....it left a horrible tase in our mouth...I will eat chipotle instead..."

One of our Folsom favorites!
"We have been to Mexquite on several occasions, and each time, we seem to enjoy it more. We have brought friends from out of town and they too loved it. Only one time did we have slow service and when the manager noticed, servers were at our table in an instance taking care of us. The owner is often present and is very friendly with the patrons. When we have just gone for a cocktail at the bar (Top Shelf aka: Folsom Margarita’s are awesome) we are treated with professional and friendly courtesy from the bartenders and the staff nearby -- always making sure we had a drink, chips and salsa. For lunch one day I had the seafood salad -- delicious. Salmon and shrimp atop assorted mixed green, my friends and I loved it. We are glad that we have this great restaurant in our neighborhood and hope thye are very successful. If you haven't been there at all, or if it's been a while, GO! It is one of our favorite Folsom places and we think you'll enjoy the menu, atmosphere, food, drinks as well as a friendly staff! "

Great Food; Wonderful Service
"I have eaten here a few times and love it more everytime. I love seafood and the way it's prepared here is so good. Last time I had the Fajita Chicken Salad and it was very yummy. Margaritas are great. Bar has a great atmosphere. Highly recommend."

Decent Mexican, high prices
"I have eaten their tortilla soup & their fajita salad- both were good. The service in the handful of times I have been there has been OK. My main problem with the place is that the prices are a little high. Their tequila menu is cool, though. "

Service was Painfully Slow
"We had a larger party and it took so long to order our food, I had to refer to the menu again because I forgot what I was ordering. We sat with empty bowls of chips and salsa, staring at the crew standing in the doorway. Finally we ordered and waited even longer to get our food. Some of it was pretty cold and must have been sitting in the window for a long time. The taco shells where soggy. The desserts wern't made the way the menu described. We loved the fact that we were sitting outside on a beautful night, howeve,r it was the slowest service ever. "

Fabulous!
"I've been here a couple of times for dinner and the service and food are amazing. The owner even walks around and talks to everyone and makes sure everyone is happy. I've also been to the bar and had drinks and appetizers with the same excellent service. I often recommend this place to friends and family and everyone has loved it. It was also very much needed in this section of town. Thank You Mario!! "

Very good food
"I often visit this restaurant and everything I have tried so far was very good. The last dinner I chose was a steak with onion dinner they have. I definitly loved it and I plan on having it again next time I head out there. I am not big on Salsa so I really have no say, but from what my friends say, they are big fans and often ask the waiter/waitress why they don't sell it. The last time my wife and I ordered fajitas, I choose the Steak and Chicken, just because I am the steak person. It was more then enough for 2. I wanted some extra cheese because the plate did not have any, and my waiter just brought it out. I hear the margaritas are pretty good, though I stay with Water and Iced Tea. All in all if you have a chance definitly stop by and try it for your self. That is the best way to test the food. I definitly recomend to try a few different plates before making your descision. Since I like ordering different things, I often find meals that I do not like, but if I were to judge the restaurant for that meal, then I did not give it the benifit of the doubt."

Bad experience
"The food at this restaurant is really bad. You may have better quesadillas at Taco Bell. Everything is bland, even the chips and salsa. I had THE WORST FAJITA IN MY LIFE. Any decent restaurant will serve the fajita on a sizzling skillet. This restaurant served it a weird bowl, on aluminum foil, almost cold. The side dish, very small. My wife asked for more guacamole. There weren't many customers and yet we waited almost 20 minutes for some cold, bland food. That's very unfortunate, we needed a Mexican restaurant in our neighborhood, but this thing doesn't even come close to a good Mexican restaurant"
